David (Larry's Story
Life
After graduating SME I attended Baker University and played in rock bands, raced motorcycles, drank beer and had a Hell of a lot of fun. In Â67, surprising even myself, I graduated BU, did Air Force OTS and married Carol Lynne McCarty (still married). We spent Â69Â72 at Kadena Air Base, Okinawa (now Japan), then transferred to Reese AB, Lubbock, Texas, where our daughter Stephanie was born in Jan Â73. I left active duty in Â73 and became a full time Air Reserve Technician (ART) in the 301 Fighter Wing, Carswell Air Base, Fort Worth, Texas. Reserve units mirror active duty units: use identical modern equipment, extensive training and stringent regulations and participate in the same wars and contingencies. I became 301 Logistics Group Commander in Â79, was promoted to Colonel in Â87, and held the LG/CC position until Sep Â99 when I retired from both Military and Civilian positions. I then formed Patterson Consulting Inc. As a consultant, I now manage a Joint Navy / Ai...Expand for more
r Force project for the 301 FW.
I pursue a variety of interest: collect & restore guitars, reed instruments & classic motorcycles (7 British Triumphs & BSAs + 4 Austrian Puchs); play/record original songs in my digital multi-track recording studio; collect classic jazz, rock & C&W (over 8,000 titles); freelance writer & photographer of feature articles and product reviews for national and international magazines. I have also written many short stories and one novel (unpublished) with another in work.
Carol and I spend several months per year hiking in the mountains of Colorado and Arkansas. Once my consulting gig is over we plan to spend half of our time out in the woods one place or the other.
I wish I could take total credit for all the good fortune in my life. However, most resulted from being in the right place, at the right time: not skill or cunning on my part. Nevertheless, it has been a fantastic, rewarding trip  and it ainÂt over yet. Not by a damn-sight.
